|Title : English Essay : Middle School Div..; 2nd Place - Daniel Park|
Researching for this competition helped me explore more aspects of the Dokdo island dispute I never would have known. Before entering, I honestly did not know much about the details of the dispute.
While most people may think that it is a pointless debate over tiny, useless rocks, I found out about the diverse wildlife and vast resources that lie beneath the islands. Also, I discovered the importance of the islands to the Korean-Japanese border and the ownership of the East Sea. In addition, I was able to find various documents and articles serving as evidence for the islet’s true ownership.
Thank you for providing such an amazing opportunity to discover the history and true importance of Dokdo island.
